Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service accuses Meduza of involvement in ‘campaign to undermine Trump’s peacemaking efforts’
Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (the SVR) has accused Meduza, the Navalny-founded Anti-Corruption Foundation, and the investigative media outlet Proekt of being involved in a “campaign to undermine the peacemaking efforts” of U.S. President Donald Trump.
In a statement published on its website on Thursday, the SVR accused “British and French intelligence services of persistently sending dirt seekers” from the Anti-Corruption Foundation, Proekt, and Meduza “to fabricate accusations of secret ties to Russian political and business circles against Trump’s entourage.”
The statement goes on to allege that London and Paris are “showing the greatest interest in information about the Americans’ business projects” with the Russian energy giants Gazprom and Rosneft, as well as the Russian state corporations Rostec and Rosatom.
“The results of these falsifications are planned to be used to discredit White House policy and torpedo the negotiation process for a peaceful settlement of the crisis in Ukraine,” the statement says.
