Russian authorities vow to take ‘all measures’ to extradite and arrest exiled Navalny associates, calling them ‘traitors to the Motherland’
The Russian Interior Ministry issued a press release on Tuesday stating that it continues to provide “operational support in criminal cases against individuals accused of terrorism- and extremism-related offenses.”
According to the ministry, associates of the late opposition politician Alexey Navalny — Dmitry Nizovtsev, Ruslan Shaveddinov, and Nina Volokhonskaya — are wanted on charges of “serious and especially serious crimes.” The statement notes that all three are accused of involvement with an extremist organization, while Shaveddinov and Nizovtsev also face charges of spreading “disinformation” about the military and failing to comply with “foreign agent” requirements.
Three other individuals — Daniil Golubev, Pavel Gribunin, and Artyom Ionov — are under investigation for “alleged involvement in the same criminal activity.”
According to available materials, some of the fugitives listed above were involved in activities of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) and unauthorized protests and have repeatedly faced administrative penalties. The Russian Interior Ministry will, within its authority, take all legally prescribed measures to document their unlawful activities, initiate the necessary legal proceedings, have them detained, and seek their extradition to Russia to face criminal charges.
The statement goes on to refer to the former FBK employees as “traitors to the motherland.”
At a time when thousands of our fellow citizens are defending Russia’s national interests and territorial integrity with weapons in hand as part of the special military operation, these traitors to the Motherland are carrying out subversive ideological work against their own people.
