According to South Korean intelligence, Ukrainian forces have captured a North Korean soldier who was fighting alongside Russia, Yonhap News Agency reported.

A South Korean intelligence source told AFP that there is no information yet on where the soldier was taken prisoner.

On Thursday, December 26, Ukrainian media outlets and Telegram channels circulated a photo purportedly showing the first North Korean soldier captured in Russia’s Kursk region. The Ukrainian authorities and the Ukrainian Armed Forces have not officially confirmed this information.

Officials in South Korea, the United States, and Ukraine estimate that North Korea has deployed between 10,000 and 12,000 troops to Russia to participate in the war.

North Korea first sent troops to Russia in October, according to Western intelligence. So why is there no clear footage of them on the battlefield?
