Russian human rights project coordinates nationwide campaign to demand release of Alexey Navalny’s body
Human rights activists at the OVD-Info project are calling on Russians to contact the Federal Investigative Committee and demand that the authorities hand over Alexey Navalny’s body to his relatives. According to OVD-Info, demanding the release of Navalny’s body is safe and will not result in persecution by the police.
Members of Alexey Navalny’s campaign team in exile say the Russian authorities refuse to turn over his body until state investigators finish additional tests. Officials can technically delay the release of Navalny’s remains for 30 days while completing these exams. Prison officials reportedly told Navalny’s mother that her son died from “sudden death syndrome,” but there’s no such diagnosis in the International Classification of Diseases.
