Russian general allegedly padded his income by filling the payroll with dead people
Vladimir Podolsky, a general in Russia’s Security Service, has been accused of fraud for creating fake job placements in his department, which is responsible for guarding industrial facilities.
An investigation into the company, which has more than 17,000 employees, showed dozens deceased persons on the payroll. Podolsky was allegedly embezzling the money for personal spending. The general has had his passport revoked, though a court refused to put him in jail or even under house arrest, despite such a request by state prosecutors.
